"Feminine" is subjective. My husband considers me a strong, feminine woman. I wear pants, chop wood, mountain bike and do things that would be considered ‘masculine’. My husband loves that aspect of my personality and wouldn’t have it any other way. He was married to what most would consider "feminine" woman but she literally took 2 hours every single morning to get ready. Life is to short to worry about things like that.

EDIT: Yes, it does take some women 2 hours to put their faces on in order to feel feminine. And your statement "The only women who won’t like this question are the ones who do go out in public with their big XL sweatpants and over sized shirts" is absurd. Quit being so judgmental and lighten up on the generalizations.

Yes, there are still men out there that love femininity. I’m one of them. Skirts, heels, all good….and sexy….. Very few women look good in sweatpants that I know of. And I have no idea why a guy would want to be with a woman who looks like one of the guys…..

I’ve NEVER been a girly girl, even at 5 I disdained Barbies to play baseball with the boys. I grew up a tomboy, prefer male friends, and even have a very short haircut. But that doesn’t mean I’m not all woman, and my husband loves that I am so REAL, and not a high-maintainance fraud.

Mind your own relationships & keep your nose out of other peoples’. And stop being judgemental.

Men see more than the outside of a woman. If a woman has a great personality and knows what shower is, is it really important to spend 2 hours each morning "looking like a woman" as you put it?

I’ve never heard of that… I think guys like girls to look like girls.
I’m a girl, and the only thing that’s not girly about me is my personality.

I can’t speak for other men but I love for a woman to look feminine and smell good. I love the women fashions of the forties.

It must be where you live, but then again this country is getting so fat that lots of people have to wear clothes like that now.

But living in southern california or miami beach you will get good looking people dressing up to get gas or groceries.

And I love it.

Sometimes men do prefer women less material and concentrated on their appearance. They want someone who can wake up and not worry about if it’s okay to run to the store. It’s a common mistake of a lot of women to get in that rut, though. Never dressing up, never taking the time to look better and people fall into comfort zones. To some guys the comfort zones are beautiful, but there are just as equal a number out there that will complain, "She never tries to impress me anymore, like when we first started dating."

So a lot of it probaby has to do with where you are from, but some of it probably has to do with the men you are putting on the judging panel. Do you tend to go for the same type of guy and notice that they prefer the same type of women? I’m willing to bet that if you changed your panel of judges, you may see different results. By all means, I would keep up with appearances. Lord knows that most of the women you are comparing yourself to did not get their men by wearing sweat pants. They went through the entire rigormoreau of fixing up beautiful for every date. Time eventually wore on, and made them what you see today.

P.S. And from personal experience, if any of the women you notice have children that totally explains it. I used to fix up everyday and look cute. Had my daughter and now I wish I could, but a lot of time what my bf gets is baggy tshirt and jeans…

I noticed the same trend and thought about it. I like to look nice all the time and wear high heels. It seems that men think that it means a woman is high maintenance and you know how they like everything to be easy for them! I am talking of American men. European men think just the opposite.

It seems that some men like a woman who do not succum to the pressures of society. Do you know the background of some of these women. For many or getting an education, taking care of home and their parents or some other degree of responsibility. Is it not exciting to have mystery in a woman also. Many of the woman that I know that dress up all the time or more concerned their appearance than spending time with their man. They are self absorbed many of them. You see men what the focus to be on them too. It is the psychology of it all. If a woman is absorbed within herself more than her relationship then what good is it having her around. If a man will love me with rollers in my head then he will appreciate when I dress up and put on a nice pair of Jimmy Choos also. That is how you determine a real man. He will love you flaws and all and don’t expect that you will look perfect all of the time. I am married and in college and have kids. Some days I don’t get to look like barbie. But when I do I am more appreciated. It does not say that I am not feminine. It says that my world is busy and I cannot always look like a model on a runway. When I worked in an office I looked stunning daily but was tired and when I went home I put on sweats and a big T-shirt. You cannot always be what everyone expects you to be. Dressing and looking like Barbie all day does not mean that a man will still be happy. I know more pretty and well dressed women being cheated on by their husbands. I see the woman they are cheating with and I am like she is so plain. Women should be graceful and feminine. We should take pride in our appearance and dress. But the pressures of life can wear one thin. If I were a man I would want to be with a real woman not just barbie. I would stress dress and appearance but also the importance of knowing a woman’s role and the work it takes to be one. So before you judge these woman and men ask a man the simple question of why. Why did you chose someone like her and not me? What makes her so special? Why don’t you tell her to dress up more? Why do men marry or have women like that but cheat with women that look like me? See the answers you get then draw your own conclusion.

My husband appreciates it when I dress up nice, but at the same time he doesn’t like it because he knows when I’m made up he can’t really touch me… for fear of messing up hair, makeup, carefully arranged clothes, etc.

Would you like it if every time to tried to hug your guy, he said, "Don’t mess up my hair!" or "You’re going to wrinkle my shirt!" That’s why in real life, most men prefer a low-maintenance woman who cleans up nice on occasion over one who’s always dressed to the nines.

I do wear makeup and try to do something with my hair, but outside of work, jeans and t-shirts are pretty much my wardrobe. I’m not trying to impress anyone. I have never had issues getting boyfriends and my current bf thinks I look cute. I want to be comfortable and to be myself. Im not going to put on a facade for anyone so I can pretend to be someone Im not.
